Garmin Tread Overland Edition

I ordered new Garmin equipment this year. Besides a dog collar and smaller mapping devices, I ordered a new 8in Tread (Overland Edition) tablet. It's portable and can be positioned on a vehicle. with a magnetic port in the back. It works well on remote areas of the US as expected of a full fledged outdoors GPS unit and it is possible to download bird eye (satellite) imagery of the maps. Custom maps are possible both from Garmin and open source.

Bird's Eye (satellite) view of maps.

It is rugged and feels professional, has a familiar app menu like on a regular tablet or smartphone (Android/iOS), a beautful and intuitive user interface with responsive controls. It offers decent internal memory and sd capabilities, takes a USB-C charger and inReach plans for satellite text messaging. Offers turn by turn directions and 3D (depth) map for off roading on foot or vehicle. The dashboard offers all the widgets in one place including compass, climate info and vehicular status. It is capable of tracking a pack of dogs (a feature I must have), which requires either a compatible collar or (Alpha) a compatible handheld unit built for dogs. It's built to be mounted on vehicles with handheld as secondary; so its main feature is to act as control center for an attached (PowerSwitch) Garmin mainframe controller on you vehicle which switches electrical peripherals, like lighting, audio, rearview cameras, ignition and even custom electric attachments like hydraulics. Price USD ~$1,300.00
