Thanks to a decades-old habit of meeting strangers online, I count on 20 instagram friends and acquaintances. An interesting mix from Japan, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Slovakia, France and the US; including models, musicians, bloggers and art profiles. Some of them complete strangers I met after leaving my job as a vet assistant when the quarantine started and spent reclusion interacting with. I have no acquaintances in Colombia yet and it might be a while until I settle down and have time for more than virtual connections. This is enough to satisfy my social cravings for now.
Before leaving I was attentively working on a video game version of my famous cartoon (Tombo) which I designed when I was in college and patented just last year. I purchased two domain names for publication and have been thinking of printed media like hardcover books and manuals. My research so far involves cognitive science, vision, optics, psychology, neurology, and artificial intelligence. I plan on incorporating these into the game and turn it into a powerhouse, along with add-on content like the cartoon, animations, DLC's and other media. While working on Tombo's checklist I came up with an idea for a second video game I codenamed 'Dave' (after the pc game from my childhood) and a main character I nicknamed Bo.
I also decided to delve deeper into music and retake old software suites I used to play with when I was in college. Downloaded hundreds of virtual instruments and sample & loop packs and installed some apps on my laptop. So far I have been figuring out the inner workings and searching for inspiration like old reggae and drum & bass. I think as soon as I rent my own place I will put more effort into this lovely project, from which I can profit in so many ways. Another project I have been daydreaming about is mobile and desktop apps. I decided to finally apply my design and computer science skills and code some apps and games for consumers and enterprise. I've been brainstorming and drafting some simple blueprints and looking around the market, If it is something I can be successful at I'd love to capitalize on it, otherwise it could become an excellent learning experience.
Curiously walked into a motorcycle outlet last week, the prices and models aren't so bad. There is also a huge used motorbike market given that it is such a common method of transportation. The entry level price for a decent bike of 300CC is around $8.000.000 COP which translates to $2,000 dollars for a 2021-2022 model. There's also an assortment of used cars including relics from my childhood. I think I might consider both in the near future depending on how my finances behave.
I brought along some GPS and mapping gadgets and plan on visiting the Amazon. I think one thousand miles should be a serious yet realistic goal and achievable once I am a little more relaxed and better nourished (I arrived in Bogota weighing 140lbs). I'd love to see new flora and fauna up close and learn more about this side of the world. Maybe take some great shots and catalogue as many species as I possibly can.
This week I spent registering a business and deciding where to set it up legally. It could be a solution to problems like organization & structure, finances and serve as an umbrella for the rest of my enterprises and creative ideas.
Happy Birthday Kari.
