Finally arrived in Puerto Colombia and made an attempt to quickly set up a comfortable HQ that meets my standards. After spending a ridiculous amount of money on my deposit and my emergency trip back to Virginia, I was not able to rush through that section of the plan. I still managed to gather all the required materials to get my operation off the ground and have been working on drafting a manual for house keeping and course of action for my start-ups.
This is my organization board with components for both business and leisure and each has a detailed section to keep my plans organized. I have added a few new ideas since my return from Virginia and have been dedicating extra time to developing my businesses and plans for traveling around Latin America.
Designed a master plan for the jungle adventure and have been thinking of raising funds somehow to aid those in need after this crisis or to save the forest itself. I checked the stats on deforestation and habitat loss and it is an incredibly large amount. In any case I would like to visit and explore it before it is completely gone.
I have drafted a schema for a trip computer and have been playing around with ideas and my GPS equipment in order to build an off the grid, electronic smart system for both navigation, intel and information gathering. And I have added a PDF field guide for quick plant and animal species recognition, ecosystem basics, notable danger zones and a brief intro page with common information. I plan on adding these to the trip computer once it is finished.
My self assigned homework and literature for training includes local history, politics, navigation and science. I found a few old Marine and Army jungle training manuals as well as some personal accounts of past adventures through the rain forest. I decided to learn about ecosystems and how species are linked so as to be able to recognize the relations between food chains and not just study them but to be able to navigate through a decent diet.
So far I have added most necessary items including a tent, machete, lighting and batteries. I trained the GPS equipment and acquired fishing gear, however after a head injury and an unexpected trip to the hospital I have wasted nearly three weeks of training and muscle mass.
