I found a huge variety of flowers and bushes in Bogota. It surprised me to find species I grew up with both in Cuba and Mexico and some jungle types that really hit the spot. The gardens were all well kept and varied, it was a refreshing escape from middle class American urban landscapes. I was so happy to see tropical flowers that I decided to add a new section to my blog with a gallery to document the rich assortment. Another reason was to show off any spoils from my planned adventures in the region and visit to the Amazon forest. Unfortunately I had to sell my professional full frame camera and left only with my iPhone 12, I have been doing a decent job,

I am currently back in Colombia and trying to get in shape and gather all items I will need for the Amazonian adventure. I built a gym at home in the spare room and attempted to finish my home office but instead set up a movie theater that I haven't finished yet, Set up my war room there and after a week of recovery from a head injury I am now retaking training, planning and organizing my new home in Puerto,

The gallery section will be a space for flora and fauna and other oddities that I find along the way in my travels. South America is a large continent and the different ecosystems including the rain forest, are home to a rich variety of species. I plan on documenting as many as I can with pictures and brief text descriptions for posts on the gallery and in depth research for my personal interests and pursuits. Besides flora and fauna I would also like to research the history, geography and economics of the region. I also have interest in anthropological studies, the region's progress in the last two decades and the impact on the rain forest.

The impact of technology in the last decade is notable and social and cultural changes in the region have captivated me. The changes are much more notable when you move around and contrast them with the same changes back home in the US. And I think now is a good time to experience this transition, enjoy these familiar costumes and explore the wildlife before they are forever gone.
